Archipelago

Esther and I spent my 54th birthday weekend (November 17-18, 2007--my birthday is actually on November 19) in New York City for the closing weekend of the Intentional Theatre Group's "Archipelago." The "It Group" is our daughter Emerie's theater company--she is its founder and artistic director--and "Archipelago" is the company's first full production which she conceived and directed. It's a series of ten one-person plays--five pre-existing pieces and five commissioned by the Group--all of which explore themes of solitude, self, and theatricality; they all look at the different ways people relate to, and deal with, their own isolation. Authors include Joyce Carol Oates, Srephen Belber, Samuel Beckett, Anton Dudley, Davy Rothbart, Erica Rosbe and others.
