The "backdrop" scene at the rally--some 100,000 supporters turned out at the Prince William County Fairgrounds to cheer Obama on for his final rally of the campaign.
The "catwalk" to the podium.
A jazz group performing for the crowd. Most folks waited over 5 1/2 hours before Obama began his remarks; it took me 3 1/2 hours to drive there from Takoma Park and I stood 3 rows back from the stage for almost 4 hours before Obama's appearance. Well worth the wait!
I had brought with me--it had just arrived in the mail yesterday--my box of "ObamaO's" cereal: "Hope in every bowl." It was a hit with the crowd while we waited. (You also get "Cap'n McCain's" on the web--I hear it's stale.)
Nat Caine (Governor Caine's son) speaks--he's a freshman at GWU.
Gerry Connelly, candidate for Congress in VA.
Governor Caine with former Governor and current candidate for Senate Mark Warner.
The main event!
The hill, post rally.
The long trek to where I parked my car--capitalism at work. Home-made CDs for sale! (And plenty of buttons and tee-shirts.)
My Obama-O's--and yes, you see it! Not only did I brush hands with the man as he passed by after his speech, a staffer thought the Senator would enjoy seeing the cereal box and took it to him for his autograph!
And there it is!
