Alaska
JOEL AND ESTHER GO C R U I S I N' . . .
For 14 days in September/October 2007, Esther and I WENT WEST, young people that we are--and we did so by air and sea. We flew to Vancouver, BC and boarded Royal Caribbean's "Serenade of the Seas" for a two-week cruise of the interior passage of Alaska. Can you say, "BRRRR ...."?
My Audio Description Associates periodically provides describers for cruise excursions--this time two blind couples requested description services so I thought I'd send myself on this one, having never been to Alaska, along with one other describer, John Feist ... and Esther came along as well. Actually Esther jumped ship at Juneau and flew on to Seattle to spend extra time with her sister Beth (Beth just adopted a second child)--I ended up at Seattle several days later for a day. Esther flew home from there and I continued on to San Francisco and San Diego, flying home from there having shed my parka for shorts and flip-flops.
The overall itinerary:

SUN 09/23/07 CRUISING
