Barcelona 2009

In June 2009, I was invited to present a paper--"Listening To Movement: Audio Description and Laban Movement Analysis"--to the Advanced Research Seminar on Audio Description. The Seminar was held at the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona in Spain, a leading center for audio visual translation; I am fortunate to be pursuing my doctorate in Audio Description from the university.

Esther and I traveled to Barcelona courtesy of Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines in partial consideration for work I've done for the company providing access services for passengers who are blind or have low vision. So not only our air fares were covered -- so was a six-day Barcelona to Barcelona cruise prior to the Seminar with ports-of-call at Monte Carlo in Monaco (via Nice and Cannes in France) and Pisa and Rome in Italy.

The next day, we arrive further down the coast of Italy and travel by bus inland about 90 minutes to Rome. Pictured here--an "umbrella tree." Actually, it's a pine nut tree.
    Outside the Colosseum--it's tourist time!
