Ireland

Audio Description and Ireland--I spent a week in Ireland, the last full week of January 2011--training describers for the Premier Captioning and Realtime group. They anticipate possibly collaborating with Audio Description Associates to produce description for Irish productions and ultimately having a core of describers developing their own description scripts.

But I found time for a visit to the Abbey Theater, wandering throughout Dublin (discovering its very own Jewish Museum--who knew?!), visits with Lina Kouzi, Alan White and Mark Magennis of the National Council of the Blind of Ireland (producer of some media description) and Padraig Naughton of Arts and Disability of Ireland (producer of performing arts description), and even planting a big one on the Blarney Stone (and that ain't no blarney!).
